
Background and Overview
Potassium acetate, molecular formula is CH3COOK, molecular weight is 98.14, soluble in water, soluble in methanol, ethanol, liquid ammonia, insoluble in ether, acetone. At 25ºC, the solubility in water is 2694g/L. Clinically, potassium acetate is osmotic diuretic, potassium ion is excreted by kidney after taking, at the same time take out a lot of water and play a diuretic role. Food grade potassium acetate is used in cardiac or renal edema and in hypokalemia. When used as an electrolyte supplement, it is mainly used as a substitute for potassium chloride for mass intravenous injection to replenish potassium in body fluids.
Preparation method

Add 3kg glacial acetic acid into 5L four-mouth bottle, stir, and add 1kg flake potassium hydroxide in batches. After the reaction starts, the reaction liquid heats up rapidly. The reaction solution was cooled to 26℃ naturally, and a large amount of white solid was precipitated. The white solid was obtained by centrifugation. The solid was beaten by reflux in 2L anhydrous ethanol, stirred continuously for 1h, and then centrifuged at 28℃. The solid obtained was beaten by reflux in 2L anhydrous ethanol again, stirred continuously for 1h, and then centrifuged at 26℃. The obtained solids were dried for 8h in an oven at 150℃ to obtain potassium acetate, and 1028g potassium acetate powder was obtained after crushing (yield 58.8%, sodium content 0.02%).

A method for preparing medicinal potassium acetate: add 200ml ethanol (AR) into the reaction bottle, heat it to micro reflux, add 56g potassium hydroxide (GR) into it, stir it until it is dissolved, slowly add 63g glacial acetic acid (medicinal) (1.05 mole equivalent), stop the heating after the dripping, and the reaction bottle is placed in room temperature, sealed and static overnight. After a large number of crystals were precipitated from the system, the filter cake was washed with ethanol at 0-5℃, and the products were dried at 105℃ for 5h in the oven to obtain flake crystals with a yield of about 37g and a yield of 44.6%.

Acetic acid 100g was weighed and pumped into the mixing equipment. The stirring was started, and the speed was maintained at 50r/min. 101.72g solid particles of potassium hydroxide were weighed, and the solid particles of potassium hydroxide were slowly put into the mixing equipment. The reaction material gradually becomes thick, after adding, the stirring speed is adjusted to 300r/min, and the temperature is heated to 70℃, which can not exceed 80℃, to prevent excessive volatilization of acetic acid. Hold the reaction for 5 hours. Take 1g sample, add 20mL co2 free water to dissolve, the measured pH is 7.5. After the reaction, the content of finished product was 99.46% after steam drying. The energy consumption of drying process is 27.01 kg standard coal/ton product.
