Pyrrolidine, also known as tetrahydropyrrole, is a colorless to yellowish liquid with a pungent ammonia odor. It is poisonous and smoky in the air. The relative density is 0.8618, the boiling point is 88 ~ 89℃, and the refractive index is 1.4402(28℃). Strong alkaline, miscible with water, soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform. The catalytic hydrogenation of pyrrole produces pyrrolidine, a natural substance found in tobacco and carrot leaves. The molecular structure of pyrrolidine is a cyclic secondary amine, which reacts in the same way as normal amines. Pyrrolidine is an important organic chemical raw material, which can be used in the preparation of drugs, fungicides, insecticides and so on. Preparation method:

① With 1, 4-butanediol as raw material, dehydration, tetrahydrofuran, and then react with ammonia, pyrrolidine can be prepared.

② With furan as raw material, under the action of catalyst, reaction with ammonia at 400℃, tetrahydropyrrole can be prepared.

③ Pyrrolidine can be prepared by reacting 1, 4-dichlorobutane with ammonia.

(4) With pyrrole as raw material, ruthenium or rhodium as catalyst, reduction, tetrahydropyrrole can be prepared.
