The Side Effects Of Budesonide

Budesonide is a steroid. Its main use is to relieve various inflammatory conditions, including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); Allergic rhinitis; Nasal polyps. Crohn's disease; Ulcerative colitis.

 1Usage.

Budesonide can be taken orally (Budenofalk), nasal (Besonin) or topically as rectal foam (Budenofalk) and as an inhalant. When inhaling budesonide, metered-dose inhalers (Vannair), nebulizers (Pulmicort Respules), and Symbicort inhalers can be used.


 Nasal spray/drops

Spray twice in each nostril, once in each nostril, twice a day


 Aerosol

The initial dose was 200-800 μg twice a day

The initial dose was 100-200 μg/ time, twice a day

Maintenance volume 200-400 μg/ time, twice a day



 1Side effects

When taken chronically, budesonide may have side effects such as anxiety, cataracts, cognitive impairment, fat redistribution (moon-face and buffalo hump), edema, gastrointestinal discomfort, headache, difficulty healing wounds, hypertension, increased risk of infection, irregular menstrual cycles, and osteoporosis.


When budesonide is administered intranasally, it may have side effects such as nasal bleeding, nasal ulcers, coughing, and nasal irritation.


When inhaled, budesonide may cause side effects such as upper respiratory tract infections, voice changes, and oral thrush (yeast infection).
